Problems with adding items to your order
about 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 02, 2022 at 11:03:50 AM

Hi there,

In the wake of the unboxing video we have received several request from backers who wants to add more items to their orders. I'm of course very happy for this and I'm very, very touched by the loving response to the video I've gotten from so many of you.

I did an export of the current order status last week, and it seems like that process locked the orders in a way that I cannot unlock. I've contacted BackerKit to help me out on this, but I don't expect an answer before Monday afternoon/evening.  Once it's been sorted out, I will make another update and I'll give you time to alter your orders.

LoD Progress!
about 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 22, 2022 at 06:34:43 AM

Hi there,

So, I’ve finally got the information I’ve been longing for…the proof box has been sent! This part of the project has really taken more time than both I and Gameland had expected.

There are several reasons for this, but you can break it down to outer and inner obstacles. The outer ones have been Covid lockdowns and energy usage restrictions in China. Then, to top this off, Ningbo was hit by the largest typhoon in 10 years, with winds over 40m/s. Just typical.

The typhoon on its way to Ningbo!

The inner obstacle has been the sheer size of this game. Due to the insane number of components, this game weighs even more than Dungeon Universalis, who some of you might have had the pleasure to dabble with. As a consequence, creating a tray that can hold the weight has been a challenge. The standard black plastics didn’t stand a chance, and we therefore decided to go for foam as mentioned in the last update. However, it turned out that the foam would require us to increase the size of the box even more. So, we had to re-think again and this time we went for PET plastic (which is transparent as you know). It’s a lot sturdier and this time it actually worked!

So, based on this, the box will hopefully arrive at the end of next week, or maybe the week after! I’ll let you all know as soon as I have it in my hands.

The box being prepared for shipping!

While waiting I would like to mention a game of a new friend of mine : Dungeon Crusade Book I: Genesis of Evil!

I’ve had the pleasure to get to know the designer Rodger Deering over the last months and he is every bit the friendly person you would expect from his Facebook posts. I’d go so far as to say that he is a Kickstarter veteran, and his game Dungeon Crusade has gotten really good reviews (8.0 on BGG).

They (Groovus Games Unlimited) went back to Kickstarter for a reprint, and they are in production now with printing on the horizon. Here is a link to the pledge manager if you'd like to take a look at everything and late pledging is available. Shipping will be happening in a few months.

Also, here is a great video series that will teach you everything about Dungeon Crusade and the Avalon Adventure board game. If you have any questions, just reach out to Rodger, and he'll be happy to help out!"

We’ve decided to do a game swap once both LoD and this new version of his game hits the printers and I’m really looking forward to playing it. We've also talked about the possibility to create a game together, including Viktor Ahrens (Creator of Dungeons of Doria) which would be great fun!

Stay safe and if everything goes according to plan, the next update will come within 2-3 weeks!

Getting closer...
about 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 01, 2022 at 04:16:59 AM

Hi there,

It’s Wednesday my friends and I just want to share a small update with you on my lunch break. Maybe it helps to sustains us to Friday and the weekend 😊

I know the last updates have been about some obstacles we’ve been facing, but we are getting really close now. Although I want to save the most for the unboxing, I can’t help but share these images of the prototype being finalized.

This is but a small part of the contents (although there is only 8 sheets of standees per box)!
Ready for some gorgeous standees? ;)

Have a nice week!

Crossover (and project status)
about 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 27, 2022 at 09:20:32 PM

Hi there,

As you might have noticed, I’ve refrained from cross promoting other games in my updates. I feel we are being washed in advertisements constantly as it is already. However, no rule without an exception, and this is likely going to be the only exception. There is also a good reason behind this exception.

Viktor Ahrens is currently running his campaign for Dungeons of Doria on Kickstarter and it’s closing in on its final days. I’m happy to say that the campaign has succeeded and that this game will reach its backers. A great achievement by Viktor and I’m really happy to see his labour paying off! Apart from the fact that his game seems great fun, I have the pleasure to announce that we have made a small cooperation to create some crossover material. Dungeons of Doria will get a small digital supplement with two characters based loosely on characters from League of Dungeoneers. They will of course use the splendid art from Kevin.

At the same time, I’m looking into how to make a similar digital supplement adding material to League of Dungeoneers based on Dungeons of Doria. This will of course be free of charge.

Below you can see the cards for Dungeons of Doria.

Project status

I’ve also received news that the red wax samples for the doors are done and I got a picture of them. To my surprise, the “red” sample is actually grey…who could have guessed? Though the sample is done, its still stuck in the sub supplier plant since packages are still not allowed to be sent due to the Covid lockdown. But it means we are ready as soon as the restrictions are lifted. Furthermore, the quality of the sample is magnificent. The details are really crisp and much better than my resin printed test piece! Painting these will be great fun 😊

The work on the tray and the box is ongoing, and the conclusion we have is that the box has to be about 4cm higher than planned (this will not affect your shipping price). Due to the weight of the components, we have changed from a plastic tray to an EVA tray (foam) which carries and distributes the weight better. This will limit the risk of trays breaking during shipping and handling by you as a customer. The new box and foam tray will be manufactured during next week. I personally think this will give a more sophistical feel to the game and I think it will help protect the components even better.😊

I’ll be back as soon as I have more info to share. Have a nice weekend!
