Some good news and some bad news

Hey there,

It’s been only about a week since the last update but I want to share the current state of the project and talk a bit about the survey on BackerKit.

Since the last update I’ve made some good progress and all files but one are now being converted to PDFs. The last file is the Quest book II that is being proofed as you read this. Meanwhile, Kevin and Diego have started with the backer designed standees and what I’ve seen look really good. All in all, the deadline of 1stof June for all material will be tight, but I think we will succeed. With this material done, I will order the final prototype. This also means I will pay the first part of the production costs this upcoming week.

A small setback

Unfortunately, I also have some bad news. The initial planned box size was 320x320mm, which would fit perfectly in a Kallax shelf. However, with the weight and size of the components, we have come to the conclusion that we have to change the box size. It will instead be 350x350mm and this is to be able to make a strong enough inlay. In the end, we have to prioritize that the components are stored within the box in such way as to minimize the risk of them being damaged.

Important!

As a last point, I would like to remind you of the survey from BackerKit.  We are at about 83% at this point which is quite normal, but I still want to remind you of this. The Pledge manager will be open for about 3 more weeks, and it is crucial that you complete your survey before it closes. I will manufacture games to those who have fulfilled the survey, and if you don’t finish the survey, you will NOT get a game. I will not issue refunds after the Pledge Manager has been closed either. If you haven’t received any invitations to complete the survey, please let me know and I’ll help you.

I will be repeating this message in the coming updates, just to make sure everyone understands the importance of it. I don’t want people to feel that they have been scammed if they miss the survey. If you have friends who has backed the game, give the friendly reminder.

*UPDATE* Don't worry about not having payed for shipping. No one has payed for that and that will be the next step once I got all adresses.

A short progress report

Hi there,

I just want to give you a short update on the status of the project. We are getting closer and closer to the deadline, and even though the product was in a pretty good shape at the start of the kickstarter, there has been quite a lot of work to do. I'm starting to see the light in the tunnel though. Most work has been to edit things graphically and to add the stretch goals (besides the more overhead activities like pledge manager handling, accountant meetings, shipment planning etc).

- All cards are now done and ready for printing.

- Ancients lands quest compendium is done and ready for test printing.

- The Quest compendium with backer and stretch quests are close to completion. I'm waiting for some proofing to finalize the editing.

- Main rulebook has gone through first test printing with following editing, and is about to be sent for 2nd (and hopefully final) test printing.

- Charts compendium has also been test printed and adjusted. Will be sent for 2nd printing soon.

- The manufacturer has made blank printouts of all components to decide the exact measurement of the box as well as the exact weight of the final product.

- Kevin and Diego has been working like crazy on the standees, and there a just a handful left as well as the backer created standees. There are some truly beautiful standees coming your way!

- One evening of spring Pike fishing has been done, with pitiful result.  All right, admittedly not quite part of the project, but necessary to keep my sanity at an acceptable level.

Once everything looks satisfactory, I'll send the files to the manufacturer for the pre-series production sample. All in all, the planned deadline for this is 1st of June. It will be tight, but should doable. 

Unfortunately,  I have an exercise coming up this week, so I'll be off grid and unable to work for a couple of days. I have to admit it will be nice to ditch the computer for a while though. That also means I won't be able to answer questions on the KS page, or any other forum for that matter. I'll catch up the week after that.

Oh, and about 75% of you have completed the survey over at BackerKit. Those of you who haven't, make sure to do this before mid June or I won't be able to ship the game to you.

Re-confirmation confusion

I got lots of question regarding the re-confirmation, so I might have caused a bit of confusion.

Please hold on and you will get an email from BackerKit with an invitation and clear instruction. It will come within 24-48h. Since this is on a technical level that I can't really explain, it's better to wait for their instructions.

But at least you know now that there is something going on, and if you see any anomalies with your pledge, you know why and that it will be corrected. No need to worry.

Update on BackerKit (re-confirmation)

Dear all,

Due to a mistake from my side where I missed to add the "Create a quest" and "Name in the Rulebook" add-on, some backers where unable to allocate their entire fund. To solve this, we had to make a minor reset, meaning that everyone must once again confirm their order. 

I will have a reminder sent out, so you should get an email within 24 hours where you can re-confirm. You can calmly await that message before you do anything.

Everything you have previously chosen SHOULD be in your cart already, but make sure to double-check!

I'm sorry for  the inconvenience, but this was the only solution. (And for those wondering, these addons were only available during the KS and cannot be added unless you backed them).

I'll comeback shortly with a more proper update on what's going on in the project :)
