The pledge manager is finally live! All of you who backed the campaign should have received an invitation in their email now (make sure to check your spam folder!).

EDIT: Those of you who chose "create a quest" will end up with 60€ credit, since there is no such option. Don't spend them on other goodies. I will find a way to solve that little issue (didnt turn up in the smoke test).

Pirates, Pledge manager and shipping!

Time for another update!

Pirate hoodies

There has been popping up ads for hoodies with the LoD logo on Facebook. These are fake and they are using stolen art. That is, if they even deliver anything. There have been several requests for official merch, and this is something I’m looking into, although with a limited effort for the moment. But, unless you see an ad or post from me, I can assure you it’s a scam.

Editing work

I’m still working with editing, and I’m waiting for more texts from the editor to finalize the rulebook. I had a meeting tonight with the artist working on the cover for the Ancient Lands expansion, and I’m doing some feedback work to the backers writing quests. There are still more than half of the writers that has not claimed their chance to make a quest. If you are one of those who bought the limited ed, or the “create a quest” add-on, you better hurry up!  I’ve invited you all to a google drive with all the data you might need. If you have trouble getting in, send me an email at [email protected]

Pledge Manager setup

I guess this is the information you are all waiting for. Setting up the pledge manager was way trickier than I thought. Since the game is a bit on the heavy side, things aren’t as straight forward as one might hope. We will have to get quotes on the shipment for each individual that surpasses 10 kg and I’ve been struggling to get a setup that will allow everyone with less than 10kg to pay the shipment straight away, and then make quotes for everyone above that. In the end, that didn’t work satisfactory so this is how it will be done:

Everyone will get a survey to fulfill their order, choosing any extras they want and paying for that and any VAT. This will give me the weight of every order and the address, and with these two together, I will be able to finalize the shipping matrix. I will then come back to claim the shipping before I close the pledge manager. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this might cause, but there is no other viable solution.

It also pains me to say that we are  seeing a slight increase in shipping cost in general. This is due to increasing prices on shipping and a miscalculation on the weight on some of the components. I will pay for 2/3 of the increase, but some regions will see that last 1/3. I’m terribly sorry for this ☹

Pledge manager release

The pledge manager will be released any day now, and it will be done with a “smoke test”. That means that about 5% of you will get access to the PM first, to make sure everything works before I open the gates fully. The 5% are randomly chosen by the program, so there is no idea in trying to convince me about who should go first 😉 Once every backer has been admitted, I will open up for late pledges as well.

Update on the project and an small surprise!

Hey there,

I just want to give you a short update on what’s going on.

It’s been a little more than a week since the campaign ended, and I’ve kept busy working on the stretch goals materials and making small corrections to other things. I’ve also made a new round of local test printing, as I find it much easier to spot layout issues on a real product instead of on the pdf.

Those of you who bought the Limited edition and those who bought the “Create a quest” add-on has been invited to start working on their quests and I have already submitted several of them to the copyeditor for proofing. I’m really impressed by their stories, and I look forward to playing these quests myself. All quests will be compiled in a physical compendium and provided to all backers from primary tier and higher. If everyone finishes their quest, it will be 20 extra quests for you!

I’ve also been working on the pledge manager setup and it’s almost finished. I’m waiting for some shipping data, and I have to settle the finance with Backerkit before I can go live. This can be done as soon as the Kickstarter funds arrive. Then we will be live once more! Keep your eyes peeled on this page for more info when it’s time.

And finally, I dropped a little easter egg in the FB group, hoping it would take a while for someone to discover. I think it took about 1 minute, before one backer noticed the teaser: a set of new trap cards. These cards were not part of the Kickstarter and were not a stretch goal, but they will still be shipped with all tiers of the game nonetheless. I got the idea after a discussion with a fellow gamer and these cards have the benefit of making the process faster and still allow for more variation and more information on each trap.

In the next update I will hopefully tell you that the pledge manager is live!
